trip to Orana park

Hi

Yesterday on Monday 16th of August, my class room 5 and room 6 went on a trip to Orana park, some parents helped us by driving us there and picking us up when we were done. When we got there we were supervised by our teachers and by School supervisors of Orana park Sarah and Bethany, we went with Sarah and room 6 went with Bethany. Before we got started we went to the School trip zone and had morning tea. Then we were told what to do, next we hot started on looking a some animals we learned lots of new things about animals habitat and how they live, we learned that giraffes tongues were bluish because it keeps the giraffes tongue from getting sunburn, and if you shave a tigers skin it will still have a stripey pattern beneath its skin and more I forgot the order we followed but we learned witch animals were reptiles, mammals and I forgot the rest we learned how to tell if they were a mammal or a reptile, the way you tell its a reptile is if it has scaly skin and if it lays eggs and the way you tell if its a mammal is if it has fur and gives birth the tigers and giraffes were my favorites because we fed the giraffes and because I got a good view of the tigers.

Chocolate day

Hi 

On July the 7th we had a chocolate day and the golden ticket was going to one of the students in our school. At the beginning of the day after prayers we were learning the history of chocolate we got to eat chocolate when we were working, we learned lots of things like it was only used as a drink back in the days, hot chocolate and that chocolate was expensive and only rich people could afford, in France only the royal family was aloud to drink hot chocolate. after that we watched the latest charlie and the chocolate factory we got to drink hot chocolate, after a little we paused the movie and had to morning tea. after that we finished the movie then we had lunch and the golden ticket was in one of the students lunch box in room one harry his prize was a box full of cookie time. after lunch we moved on to team building, we had to get into a team of three or four, I had a team of two because there wasn't enough people in the class, we had to build a tower of 30 pieces of raw spaghetti and six marshmallows to try and hold three crunches for your team me and my buddy built a pyramid but in the end our build didn't hold it. then we had to pack up all the mess and do prayers. after that we went home. 

Graphic novels

a few weeks ago we started to learn how to make graphic novels, to get use to using onomatopoeia, express our ideas and be more creative we had to read a few graphic novels to understand a little like learn the different bubbles like thought bubbles and word bubbles and we learned what panel boarders were and some true or false questions to understand a bit more. Then wed carry on and draw our character and write what they like, dislike and what there like. Next we drew the setting like where the character was gonna be and where the story was gonna start, then we would write some of our characters goals and problems and a solution then a choosing a goal to end with or a sad graphic or if your character didn't complete a goal. we did it in a booklet and at the back of the booklet would be a page you would make your story and if you wanted to make more stories the teachers would give us good copies and some of us made lots and some of us made 1 2 or 3 my story was about stick man Broddy I made him up and my story main characters were Garou from one punch man and Broddy he didn't look like what I expected but I liked it.

learn how to round and compensate

Today we are gonna be solving problems by rounding and compensating. To round and compensate you need a question, here's an example, 3 x 5 so five times three equals 15 right then you use 3 x 5 to help with all your three times tables like this, 3 x 6 you can solve it by just adding another three then you get your answer here's more examples.

to figure out we will need to round then compensate so 49 x 7 but instead we use 49 x 6 then if we don't know that then we use 49 x 5 so we should know that we just need to x 5 lots of times. so that equals 245 so now we 245 + 98=345. so now that we know how to round and compensate the answers should be.    

49 x 7=345

58 x 9=522

208 x 1=208

92 ÷ 4=23

104 ÷ 8=13

64 ÷ 4  =16

Learn how to double and half

 Hi

Today we are learning how to double and half. To double and half you need to double your unequal number and half your equal number. It only works with numbers ending in 5, 50 and so on also you have to one equal number, like this, 35 x 8 next you get your number ending in 5 and double like this, 35 x 2=70, then you half your equal number 8, which is 4. After that it should look like this 70 x 4=280 so its suppose to make it easier. I hope you enjoyed Learning how to double and half.
